Doggie Day Care
Here the dogs run and play all day in our large, clean, climate controlled, indoor facility. No matter what the weather is doing outside, your dog will be enjoying lots of playtime here. Your dog will enjoy spending the day here instead of being bored and lonely at home. There is a lot of human attention along with the doggy fun and games. Doggie day care is a great outlet for an active, high-energy dog as well as a wonderful way to help shy dogs gain better social skills. They have snacks and naps at noon time, then back out to play the rest of the afternoon.
Experienced, knowledgeable personnel maintain a positive atmosphere. The single most important aspect of a doggie day care/boarding facility are the humans that supervise the play time. Just being a dog lover does not qualify someone to run a dog day care. A strong background in dog behavior, especially pack interaction, is crucial to operate a safe, fun playground. Are the humans the leaders? Or are the dogs in charge? If a day care attendant can't stop the dogs from barking, they aren't going to be able to break up a tiff. We provide loving care and good leadership so all of our visitors enjoy their stay here. We can influence the rowdy dogs to "play nice" so they actually go home with better behavior than when they came here, and we help the shy dogs come out of their shells, so they go home with new found confidence and improved social skills, making their lives so much more enjoyable. We really enjoy our time playing and interacting with the dogs, and love to help the wall flowers blossom!
"Playground equipment" in the play area that is secured sufficiently to be stable enough to play on is actually a
hazard that can cause injury if a dog runs into it while playing tag. There are no stationary objects in our play area. Instead, we have tennis balls and Kong's® for the dogs to fetch and chew on as well as tug toys and a large hard ball to play soccer with. They also get lots of love and attention from us through out the day. We also don't have a kiddy pool because dogs will be dogs, which means the boy dogs will claim the pool as their own, making the water in the pool unsanitary for drinking and bathing (yes, a dog will drink water that another dog has urinated in) Dumping it and refilling multiple times a day just wastes water, so in the interest of water conservation, we have elected not to have a pool. Besides, when they are playing in an air conditioned room they don't need a pool to cool down! The dogs take naps in our cozy kennel room where the crates are nestled side by side so the dogs don't feel isolated or alone. Naps are necessary to insure the dogs don't over do it during play time.
